Communication using the qualified electronic signature:
At present, the Federal Revenue Administration's standard IT system does not support sending or receiving electronic documents
using the qualified electronic signature according to the Digital Signature Act (Signaturgesetz). No access is open for the receipt of such documents.
Applications, notifications and declarations/statements that must be made in writing in order to be valid (e.g. written applications) must therefore be submitted to the tax authority on paper and signed by hand. Only applications, notifications and declarations/statements that have been signed by hand are legally valid.
